Iron Pin Ranch

Nestled on 240 acres of picturesque Piedmont land in Northeast Georgia, our ranch is a testament to hard work and a deep connection to the land. Here’s a glimpse into our operations:

Brood Cowherd: Our herd consists of 100 Angus cows, the backbone of our operation.
Replacement Heifers: Each year, we develop 25-40 replacement heifers for our own herd or for sale to other cattlemen.
Bull Marketing:
- We market 15-20 bulls annually, with 5-10 yearlings sold through the University of Georgia Tifton Bull Test Station and the Southwest Virginia Bull Test Station in Wytheville, Virginia.
- Another 5-10 bulls are developed as long yearlings and sold after being used in our herd for spring breeding.
Finished Steers: Around 25 steers per year are marketed directly to our loyal beef customers.

To ensure optimal health and productivity, we work with Dr. Allen Stateler of Nutrition Service Associates for expert guidance on herd nutrition. We also employ cover cropping across our land, striving to maximize grazing days for our cattle and maintain sustainable farming practices.

Gary and Stephanie Harvin

We are proud first-generation farmers, reconnecting with the land and carrying on a legacy that was two generations removed from agriculture in our families. Our journey into farming has been a labor of love, deeply rooted in our passion for the land and the blessings it returns to us.

Meet Gary

Gary was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved to Georgia as a child. A Registered Land Surveyor in several states and the County Surveyor for Madison County, he has spent his life working with the land. From his days as a dedicated motocross racer until 2016 to his current passion for cattle ranching, Gary’s connection to the land has always been the foundation of his work and hobbies. For him, the land is more than just soil; it’s a gift from God and a constant source of inspiration and purpose.

Meet Stephanie

Stephanie grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and was a standout athlete, excelling in softball and basketball. Her name still graces the record books at her high school alma mater. A true leader in the Madison County community, Stephanie serves on the Chamber of Commerce Board and has contributed her expertise as a former member of the Planning and Zoning Board and Vice President of the Madison County Cattlemen's Association. A Cattle Artificial Insemination school star, she brings exceptional skills to cattle work and proudly holds the record for the Highest Selling Cake at Auction in Madison County, Georgia.

Our Sons

Jackson (23): A former Division 1 swimmer at Georgia Tech, Jackson is now an integral part of the family’s land surveying business. He lives in St. Petersburg, FL, and boasts an impressive record as a State Champion swimmer during his high school years.

Landon (18): A National Champion off-road motorcycle racer, Landon races at a national level nearly 20 weekends a year. When not competing, he works alongside the family on the ranch and in the land surveying business.

Ranch Dog Memorials

We honor the memory of our beloved dogs who have crossed the rainbow bridge:

Bleu (2019): A loyal Blue Heeler who is deeply missed.
Smokey (2024): A goofy Black Lab who was the “Gentle Giant”. He loved to swim with everyone in the pool!
